In his book Death of a Guru, Rabi Maharaj clearly points out the truth that Hinduism and Christianity are NOT the same. Rabi came to realise he was not God nor was the cow he worshipped.
These quotes are taken from the book “Death of a Guru” by Rabi Maharaj. Rabi was descended from a long line of Brahmin priests and trained as a Yogi. He finally came to realise the true nature of the dark spiritual forces he was worshipping. Despite being worshipped by others since childhood, he also came to see that he was not God nor was the cow he had worshipped.
“You are not God!”
As a person was routinely bowing before Rabi to receive his blessing he “was startled by a voice of unmistakable omnipotent authority: “You are not God, Rabi!” … “You … are … not God!” (p 108)
Attacked by the cow I worshipped
“Holding a small brass cup, or lota, of holy water in one hand for a purification offering, I had placed a fresh hibiscus bloom on our cow’s head, which I did every morning, and was bowing in worship – when suddenly, with a warning snort, the big black creature lowered her head and charged. …
Fortunately for me I hadn’t untied the cow. Her rope pulled her up short just as I thought her horns were going to impale me. Shaken and breathless, I looked from the trampled lota and beads and angrily pawing hoofs to those big brown eyes staring at me with intense hatred. Attacked by my god! And I had worshipped her faithfully for an hour each day for years!” (p 70)
Hinduism and Christianity are not the ‘same’!
“I was challenged by the head of the religious department, who was also a State Church Pastor. Expressing his disapproval of my lecture on comparative religions, he said: “I was a missionary in India for 20 years, and I saw the Indian worshipping his stone god. I believe that when the Indian worships his idols he is worshipping the God of the Bible. You are not helping the understanding we need between religions by making out that there are drastic differences!”
“Reverend,” I replied. “I was that Indian worshipping stone gods. Today I worship the God of the Bible, and I think that I am qualified to tell you that they are not the same – they are worlds apart.” (p 198)

Hinduism and the Bible – they can’t both be right!
Hinduism says that:
- reincarnation is true
- the historical Jesus of Nazareth is not the only way to God
- man should realise their divinity, people should worship other people (gurus)
- a person should bow down in reverence to a cow, we can use astrology
- bathing in the river Ganges can wash your sins away
- accepts idol worship with open arms and
- we should practise Yoga whose purpose is to get a person to realise their divinity (that they are God).
The Bible says the COMPLETE OPPOSITE to Hinduism in regards to these most important matters!
The Bible says that:
- reincarnation is NOT true
- the historical Jesus of Nazareth IS the only way to God
- man is NOT and can NEVER be God
- people should NEVER worship other people (gurus)
- a person should NEVER bow down in reverence to a cow
- we should NEVER use astrology
- bathing in the river Ganges can NEVER wash your sins away
- a person should NEVER worship an idol and
- a person should NEVER practise Yoga because its ultimate purpose is for you to believe the lie that a person is really divine (God).
Both Hinduism and Christianity cannot be correct. If Hinduism is right, the Bible is wrong. If the Bible is right, Hinduism is wrong. One must be wrong!
The most important questions in this life
The thing that really made an impact on me when I was a sceptic reading the bible was Jesus repeatedly prefacing his important statements with, “I tell you the truth”. Jesus made such bold claims and, after thorough investigation, I decided Jesus was indeed telling me the truth. (Greg)
We believe that Jesus showed through His life, death and resurrection that He is the only way, the truth and the life. We think coming to the correct answers to the questions; “Who is Jesus?” and “What does this mean for my life?” is the most important thing in this life.
These decisions greatly impact the meaning and purpose of our lives here on earth and ultimately will determine where we will spend eternity.
What does the Bible say about these matters?
We only die once (Reincarnation is not true)
“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement” (Hebrews 14:6).
The historical Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the only pathway to God (No, there are not many pathways to God)
Jesus answered “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6)
Peter proclaimed “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
The apostle Paul says; “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Jesus Christ” (1 Timothy 2:5).
“Therefore God exalted him (Jesus Christ) to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name …” (Philippians 2:9, words in brackets added).
We are forbidden to worship a created thing (Gurus and cows are not to be worshipped)
“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen” (Romans 1:21-25).
The bible utterly forbids us to worship a created thing (like another human being) as God. We are told that doing so is a clear sign that a person has “exchanged the truth about God for a lie” for they “worship and serve created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen” (Romans 1:21-25).
You can I are not and can never be divine. Nor should we practise Yoga whose aim is to get a person to realise their supposed divinity.
Astrology is not to be practised
“Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame.” (Isaiah 47:13-14).
Only in Jesus can we have our sins washed away (Bathing in a river will never wash a person’s sins away)
“To him (Jesus) who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood … to him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen” (Revelation 1:5-6, word in brackets is added).
Bathing in the Ganges river will never wash anyone’s sins away. Sins can only be washed away when a person places their trust and faith in what Jesus did on the cross for them.
We are forbidden to worship idols
“… Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.
All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing? Half of the wood he burns in the fire; over it he prepares his meal …
From the rest he makes a god, his idol; he bows down to it and worships. Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?” Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, “Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?” (Isaiah 44:8-10, 16-17, 19-20)
